3 Great 24/7 Ramen Shops to Nurse Your Hangover!

April 22, 2025

While Tokyo is known as a city that never sleeps, this is nowhere more true than it is in Kabukicho – Tokyo’s nightlife capital.

Tourists from around the world gather here to indulge themselves in drink, music, and luxury, and it is not uncommon to find people collapsed the morning after, nursing headaches that may rival some of the worst pains imaginable.

Luckily, Kabukicho is home to ramen shops of all kinds, many even open at all hours of the day and while there is no cure for a bad hangover, good soup and carbs can always help.

As such, here are three of our recommendations for 24/7 ramen shops in Kabukicho, so you’ll be well-prepared for a night on the town!

1. Sugoi Niboshi Ramen Nagi Golden Gai

Sugoi Niboshi Ramen Nagi has been a hit with drunken salarymen for decades with its unique “niboshi” broth that even the most inebriated can be impressed by.

“Niboshi” (煮干し), or dried anchovy within this context, constitutes the primary flavor for the broth, the staff slowly simmering it into the basal “tonkotsu” for a unique blend of both fish and pork.

The heartiness of the bowl is accentuated by the slight “kick” that comes from its creation process and who can’t fall in love with the two different noodle varieties that serve to accentuate each other?

The thickness of the pork contrasts well with the uniquely marinated egg, and the large sheet of nori helps absorb the broth making it a perfect way to finish this feast for the senses.

Nagi offers a unique experience that will delight everyone, but be warned – the shop itself is very small!

2. Ecchan Ramen

While more orthodox than Nagi, bringing ramen back to its Chinese roots, Ecchan is no less delicious with a variety of bowls that captivate with their wonderful aromas and sensations.

Soy sauce constitutes the base for the broth, giving a comforting, relaxing impression that reminds the self of a home-cooked meal.

The noodles themselves are what could be considered standard among places that advertise themselves as “chuuka soba” with a thickness and consistency that make them easy and fun to “slurp”.

The deliciousness of the char siu dazzle the palate and the more adventurous ramen connoisseur will find themselves enamored by both dipping and “karami” bowls of ramen.

A word of caution about “karami” however – this can get very spicy, so leave trying it for your second or even third visit, lest you find yourself nursing a burning tongue in addition to your hangover!

3. Ichiran Ramen Shinjuku Kabukicho

Yes, the one shop seen in all those short videos on social media, Ichiran Ramen has found itself unfairly maligned by local expats because of its popularity, but let us not forget how it became popular in the first place – through offering a wonderfully delicious meal in addition to a unique dining experience.

Everyone has their favorites, yes, but for those just starting their “ramen lover’s” journey, then Ichiran helps establish a standard with its deliciously creamy tonkotsu broth, wonderfully crafted wheat noodles, and succulently juicy pork.

No Japanese? No problem – just fill out the form and customize your ramen as you like.

In fact, you are even encouraged to -ramen isn’t one size fits all, it’s for you to have as you want because you only get this one life – to enjoy delicious ramen.

Especially after those nights when the whole world feels like it’s ringing in your ears, Ichiran’s unique solo dining experience can help bring you back to life with the store’s contemplative silence – a rarity in the normally loud Kabukicho!

While there are many within Kabukicho, in fact, many of them just as if not more delicious than the above, we have decided to recommend these three as they all offer wonderful dining experiences in addition to being open at all times of the day – most crucially during the small hours of the morning when heads ache and stomaches growl after wild times spent enjoying Japan’s famed nightlife culture!
