Experience Tokyo’s most impressive portable shrine procession!
The Torigoe Festival features the city’s largest mikoshi, weighing an incredible 4 tons.
This traditional festival draws thousands of participants and spectators, making it one of Tokyo’s premier June celebrations.

2. Free Geisha Dances (Ozashiki Odori) in Asakusa
Dates: June 7, 14, 21 (Saturdays)
Performance Times:
Session 1: 1:00-1:40 PM
Session 2: 2:30-3:10 PM
Admission: Free
A rare opportunity to witness authentic geisha performances in Tokyo! These traditional female entertainers, with over 250 years of history, showcase their skills in singing, dancing, and traditional games. Participate in activities for a chance to win prizes, including photos with the geisha.

3. Tsukiji Lion Dance Festival
Period: June 10-15, 2025
Join the entire Tsukiji district as they celebrate at Namiyoke Shrine!
What sets this festival apart from other mikoshi processions are the magnificent giant lion heads carried alongside the portable shrines, creating a unique and powerful spectacle through the historic fish market area.
4. Oku Asakusa Bon Odori Festival
Date: June 28, 2025
Venue: Yamaya-bori Plaza, Sumida Park
Experience the spiritual beauty of Bon Odori, a traditional dance performed to honor deceased ancestors and help their spirits achieve Buddhist enlightenment.
Dancers move in circles around a lantern-decorated yagura scaffold, accompanied by taiko drums and delicious festival food stalls.
5. Kodo Performance: Everlasting
Period: June 25-29, 2025
Tickets: General ¥7,500, Under 25 ¥3,500 (Limited seating)
Don’t miss this extraordinary performance by Kodo, the world-renowned taiko drum ensemble from Sado Island.
This special “Everlasting” show explores themes of continuity through a mesmerizing blend of traditional Japanese percussion and contemporary musical arrangements.
